PRX Derm Perfexion Pre-Procedure Tips

PRX Derm Perfexion is taking the aesthetic skin care industry by storm. This “no peel” chemical peel is one of the most innovative procedures of the last decade. This is the perfect procedure for glowing skin with no allotted downtime, no needles and no pain. Here are some pre-procedure tips to know before you go!

Avoid Other Treatments

Unless your aesthetician recommends, you should not undergo other procedures such as micro-needling, chemical peels, laser resurfacing or dermal injections/fillers (Juvaderm, Botox or Restylane) for at least 1-2 weeks before your procedure. These procedures can impact the results of PRX Derm Perfexion. Avoid harsh skin irritants, including retinol/retinoids, vitamin C products, glycolic and salicylic acids (AHA and BHA) and benzoyl peroxide. These can only further irritate the skin if used before receiving the PRX Derm Perfexion procedure.

Avoid Hair Removal Procedure or Products

Refrain from waxing, lasering, shaving, tweezing or using hair removal creams (depilatory creams such as Nair, Veet or Nad’s) for at least 1-2 weeks before your procedure. These procedures can only further irritate the skin, causing sensitivity and redness. You want to ensure your skin is fully healed and clean pre-procedure.

Talk to Your Doctor

Before undergoing the RPX Derm Perfexion, ask your doctor if this procedure is safe based on your past/current medical conditions, prescriptions or daily exposure to the sun. Some prescription medications such as Accutane, Antibiotics, Tricyclic Antidepressants, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Aspirin), Psoralens or water pills may increase sensitivity to sunlight and cause further irritation to the skin. If you are on any of these medications, ask your doctor if PRX Derm Perfexion is the correct procedure. If you are pregnant, believe you are pregnant or breastfeeding, PRX Derm Perfexion is not a viable option for you at this time.

Limit Sun Exposure

Avoid using tanning beds or laying out in the sun for at least two weeks pre-procedure. We also recommend discontinuing tanning beds altogether; this increases the likelihood of skin cancer and expedites the natural aging process. Tanning or burning before receiving the Derm Perfexion procedure can significantly damage the skin. Always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or above) daily; this dramatically reduces the risk of skin cancer and UV damage.
